DIG offers fantastic opportunities for you to get involved as a volunteer or placement.

Joining as an Attractions volunteer:

There are a range of volunteer opportunities based at or involving DIG which offer people the opportunity to get involved with the York Archaeological Trust and help us to bring to life the work of an archaeologist for our visitors.
Volunteering suits anyone wanting to gain new experiences, share their current skills, meet new people and get involved with the aims of the York Archaeological Trust.

Take a look at our 'Volunteers' page for further information on the roles available, the registration periods and how to enquire about joining our volunteer team.
If you have a set-period of time to undertake your experience in or have specific study or work related needs to meet then you would be best to consider our placement offers.

Joining as an Attractions placement:

Our DIG Front-of-House Assistant placement is based at DIG.
Placement opportunities suit anyone from a local college or university to those looking to arrange independent placements where they need to undertake a set period of involvement to achieve their course or study aims.

For further information on our DIG placement opportunities and how to register your interest in a place please take a look at our Placements' page.

If you would like to become involved with practical archaeology please check the DIG HUNGATE website for details on training and volunteering opportunities. York Archaeological Trust can also provide opportunities to assist with finds work, please contact the Trust directly on 01904 663000 to discuss this further.
